MEETING CHAT

00:51:32 James Newton: When we get to sharing, am I allowed to mention a friends robotic kickstarter? I don’t want to break any rules about spam. It’s pretty cool, but Im’ a rule follower. LOL.

00:57:09 James Newton: It’s a “leader” arm, which doesn’t move itself, but is in the same general configuration as a robotic arm, and it senses how you move it. The key being that it won’t move (built in limits) in the same ways that a standard robot arm can’t move, so you avoid trying to go to singularities, etc… It makes teleop, recording, and training data capture really easy.

00:59:27 James Newton: But the magical part is actually the encoder, which he invented for this arm. It’s a magnetic array of hall effect sensors (not a hall effect array) so it supports a through hole joint; you can pass through wires, air, etc.. High stability (differential noise reduction), high accuracy, and 0.03 degree precision. If the kickstarter funds, he will release the encoders.

01:00:51 James Newton: So thanks to Steven for permission, here is the kickstarter link:

Please please share that with anyone in research or industry who might need a leader arm.

02:01:25 Craig Austin: This is the solder station I had in mind, it’s a “resistance” soldering system, not induction based. And it’s cheaper that what I remembered: https://concorde-electronics.com/shop/american-beauty-10599-micro-capacity-tweezer-style-resistance-soldering-system/

02:50:13 danniellejardine1: We are looking for beta testers for our NEPI container if anyone is interested! Free license for feedback. Here’s a link to sign up: https://numurus.com/beta-test-program/

02:56:14 Mathias: I have to drop off. Thank you very much for the talk and presentation, Jay! Will try to join the beta test.

02:56:26 Mathias: Thank you everyone.
