New to Robotics and Want to Learn More?

  • This page tells you about the SRS and (we hope) offers you some helpful resources. You can find basic information about presentations by looking through Past Meetings or keyword-search through our past presentations prior to 2019 archived on the old SRS website. There have been a number of them geared towards people getting started in various ways.
  • Try entering “build robot” into the SRS Google Search box to start. You’ll be presented with results just on the website. The slides (if provided) that were shown at the respective meeting are linked for your convenience. Later meetings have video recordings.

Look through the Virtual Robothon Exhibition videos for short presentations on building robots as well.

The Encoder, our online magazine, though dated, has some interesting information and can be keyword-searched.

If you don’t reside in the Pacific Northwest, but are looking to meeting people in person, there are many robot clubs around the country. This is not an exhaustive list so search the web. If you find one in your area, check in with them to determine their meeting arrangements.

  • Maker Spacers are popping up all over the place. Here is a sampling of Maker Spaces in the western United States.

    Seattle Robotics Society Useful Links

Below are what we hope are useful links to websites that sell robots and parts and provide other technical resources. This list is updated from time to time with new links submitted,  provided they seem “useful”. This list is alphabetical for convenience, but please understand that appearance on this list does not constitute endorsement by the SRS. The links and corresponding information they contain, are offered here for informational purposes only and provided as-is.

If you would like to suggest a site to be added, contact the SRS at our email: SeattleRoboticsSociety(at)gmail.com, include Subject: Useful Link(s) in the email, and provide a short description of the content and why you believe it would be useful to SRS members. Feel free to propose helpful descriptions (or updates) for any sites on the list that don’t already have them. Also, if there are links that are no longer appropriate or applicable, please let us know so that they can be  removed.
