Meeting Chat

00:32:51 James Newton: Really looking forward to Gregs presentation.

00:44:52 James Newton: I did make some small improvements on the cell phone robot controller “blink bot” idea:

https://jamesnewton.github.io/webbot.html

Mostly just to make it a bit easier to understand for humans by drawing in the areas, and going to a dark theme to avoid shining screen lights on the scene so it can work better in dim lights. Added a blink bar at the bottom to shine light every other frame for better detection of up close objects. Needs a linear lens.

00:46:35 James Newton: “Performance anxiety”

00:51:05 James Newton: Fry is updating the machine vision tools in DDE4

https://cfry.github.io/dde4/dde

but hasn’t quite got that published yet, so the last two items on the “Insert” / “Machine Vision” menu still don’t work (bit rot) but they will soon. And April tag processing is /still/ in work… LOL. everything takes forever. Hopefully soon.

00:51:19 Chas: Reacted to “Fry is updating the …” with ❤️

00:53:13 James Newton: Hey, when you can blink an LED you can control the world.

00:53:57 Chas: Some of my highest wins in robotics came with a blinking light.

00:56:02 James Newton: For anyone interested in how far you can go with ESP hosted web pages, check out our SDMG WiFi bot. The control panel, editor, settings, PING sensor and switch feedback, etc… all being done by WiFI to an (e.g. Cellphone, tablet, PC) web page.

00:59:46 Layton Miller: I was messing around a few months ago with an esp32 WROOM and was able to get the light blinking over wifi AND bluetooth fairly easily. These modules are super cool!

01:14:59 nabber: Hi all

01:15:14 layton-miller: Hi nabber

01:15:18 nabber: I missed the intro

01:15:33 nabber: Meetings start at 10?

01:16:45 nabber: I have a bit of background with mechatronics

01:17:01 nabber: Took some college courses but never finished…

01:17:55 nabber: I also work in a machine shop so maybe I can make machined parts for a robot

01:18:10 James Newton: https://github.com/labnation/decoders/tree/master/Default/Properties

01:19:17 nabber: Hey, anyone interested in combat robotics?

01:21:38 Chas: https://www.saleae.com/products/saleae-logic-pro-16?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD7ZKZhnhvZEGnapI8HVAPyGeI1UO&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlIG2BhC4ARIsADBgpVT7NXeK1M3wFnIDzQeBBmauyMKWbIGVUsEOe9Ho8IZEEZgyGKQaNqUaArPlEALw_wcB

01:26:11 James Newton: @nabber we tried to build up a “cardboard combat league” with that SDMG robot I linked above

01:26:35 Chas: https://www.linkedin.com/in/matthew-flavin-a6b52250?original_referer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F

01:29:50 nabber: I was thinking about neuropathy from cancer treatments…

01:30:11 James Newton: Insert vote for google slides

01:30:26 layton-miller: Reacted to “Insert vote for goog…” with 😆

01:33:00 James Newton: I was obsessed with “bionics” as a kid, and I still think robotics workers could learn a LOT from biological systems.

01:35:23 layton-miller: Reacted to “I was obsessed with …” with 💯

01:38:14 nabber: this is amazing

01:38:36 Chas: Replying to “this is amazing”

Absolutely .. this is amazing.

01:58:03 nabber: could the skin nor react and stay in a compressed state? like the skin membranes break down on repeated state changes?

02:01:07 nabber: the device is fixed with a glue or adhesive?

02:07:36 James Newton: It’s easier to crush a beer can on your forehead if you twist your palm when you smash it. LOL. Not that I’ve done that.

02:09:46 layton-miller: This is a VERY cool way of mapping spatial information to physical sense. Wowza

02:11:28 layton-miller: E P I C

02:15:02 James Newton: Really cool. I’ll have to watch the rest later as I have to run, but thanks for the presentation and the amazing work. I wish there was more money in disability device research and manufacturing. Hopefully this can be used in other areas so that the quantity of manufacturing reduces the price for disability use. Best wishes.

02:15:48 layton-miller: See ya james

02:21:48 layton-miller: I too must go — great stuff, Matthew! Thanks for the awesome presentation, very cool stuff.

02:34:58 nabber: you have a phd in Mechatronics?

02:35:12 Anubhav: absolutely riveting. Thank you for such an informative session!

02:36:19 nabber: wait

02:36:23 nabber: i have a question

02:36:23 Anubhav: Did you use R for your charts?
