6/16/18: This month's meeting had a great turnout. About 40 people showed up. The meeting started on time. Continued to build robots. If you have one of the new Activitybot kits, we hope they'll be available at upcoming meetings and at Robothon on Oct 6. The SRS supports both the original Arduino Boe-bot and the new kit at the regular monthly workshops so bring yours back and work on it with us.

I haven't posted updates about my robot Omicron on the SRS Weblog lately because I've been really busy. Do keep the robot-building momentum going with yours. Robothon and the Special Contest Days will provide opportunities to compete or at least test your robot(s). Check the Useful Links page and let me know if it lives up to its name and if it's missing anything important. SRS Polo shirts are now available at meetings for $30 (cash, check, or card). See Steve K., Lloyd, or Carol during breaks or after the meeting.

Round-the-Room

Steve K. shared some Youtube video during the Round-the-Room.

The laser-powered insect robot in the videos is being developed by a new professor (Shyam Gollakota) and his team at the University of Washington. I will attempt to get him or someone on his team to come share about their research with us at a future meeting.

Feature Presentation

This month's presentation was done by Xinli Zou presenting on AR (augmented reality) integration with robotics for training robots to perform tasks. His slides are here. More information about this technology can be found at Wyzlink.

The Workshop

A few folks hung around and worked on their robots during the afternoon Workshop. Bring your robot(s) to work on and show off. The next Special Contest Day should be after Robothon at the November meeting (to be confirmed). There won't be a presentation so we can jump right into it. Get busy!
